First Scrimmage

Looks like overall a pretty good day for the team's first scrimmage.  As long as nobody suffers any major injuries, I'm always happy with a scrimmage.  Outside of that, here are a few points that jumped out at me.

John Jenkins Primarily Working With The #2's:
I don't think this should be a huge shocker.  I know he's got all the physical tools, but Kwame Geathers is now in his 3rd year at UGA, his 2nd in the new 3-4 system, has a few physical tools himself, and had a great spring, so he logically SHOULD be ahead of Jenkins right now.  But I'd imagine Jenkins will close that gap pretty quickly.  And let's face it, when you're that big of a boy, you need to be able to rotate in and out if you're gonna stay fresh.  I think they're going to be a great 1-2 punch.  Additionally, they have the 1's going against the 2's, so if he is working out with the 2's, that means he's lining up across from Ben Jones.  If he can learn to hold his own or beat Jones, he'll be a beast against anyone.

Raised Expectations for Murray:
Said Richt: "If it was a year ago, I'd say that was a pretty darn good scrimmage for a freshman. Now that he's a sophomore - I mean it wasn't a bad day."  Murray has come out saying that he knows he still needs to improve, and clearly the coaching staff is pushing him to do so.

Receiving:
No catches for Orson Charles or Malcolm Mitchell?  Not that this is a cause for concern, it's just a scrimmage, but was a little surprising to me.

Richard Samuel Appears To Already Be In Mid-Season Form:
"Samuel did fumble once, and freshman Amarlo Herrera returned it 65 yards for a TD."  No word though on how many tackles he didn't break.

All in all though, it sounds like it was a good scrimmage.

Only 24 days left...........
